Unpopular opinions

Their serious tracks are freaking amazing.

I think they have a track for every possible drink there is by now. Haven't checked.

I'll extend that to 'i never really liked Tweekaz in general'. Yea, they made some tunes that i absolutely love, such as Break The Spell, Real Love, the Hero remix for Pegboard Nerds and a handful of more, but tbh with them it's 15 tracks that are totally not my taste for 1 banger.

In all honestly, the early days of Da Tweekaz, I thought they brought something quite fresh and groovy to the genre. However, I can't appreciate what they're doing now, even though I truly believe they are super skilled producers.

whilst its nice people are making more "traditional" raw, the use of the phrase "og raw" is fucking stupid and inaccurate.

There was like 10-12 different types of 'og raw' back in the days - which one are you talking about?

It's creating unnecessary division and pointless discussion. It's either good or not good - whether in the old vibe or new vibe.

I wasn't actively listening to hardstyle during the post-nustyle period so am curious for examples about the different types even back then if you don't mind spelling this out a bit.

What I appreciate most about what seems like a recent trend in raw since around the new year is more drive throughout the tracks and less 1.5 minute breakdowns bookended by 30 seconds of "experimental" kicks.

starting with Fusion itself, you could name DR, Zany,...then you have Crypsis, Chain Reaction, The Beholder, Alphaverb, B-Front,... just to name some OGs. Each of them had their own flavour when it comes to RAW sound, so it's difficult to name the type, it was just raw or "dark" sound/side of hardstyle.

The DJ spins a galaxy of black vinyl, for the gods that came to dance!

Chordata, the labels were all so different

Tillt
Fusion
Spoontech
Minus is More
A2 records

Then artists were so different themselves - Chris One was different to The R3belz who was different to Alphaverb who was different to new Code Black raw at the time who was different to new E-Force at the time who was different to Crypsis and even Radical Redemption stuff from Annihilate was rather different to the rest of the Minus is More stuff.

The diversity of raw in 2009-2012 was insane. We have that now of course but the point is - "OG Raw" was so wide that you can't pick one type and just say that's "OG Raw' now Unpopular opinions - Page 145 (17)

Ok thanks, I understand what you mean now. I'm familiar with all those labels and artists but was wondering if there were clear terms for the different "styles" but now I see it's just a matter of distinct sounds depending on the artist/label. I agree with your point in any case Unpopular opinions - Page 145 (20) It seems the "OG Raw" now is referring to the less melodic screech-centric stuff from after that more diverse 09-12 period

Another hot take:

Summer Of Hardstyle is a horrible track. Badly produced shit take on early hardstyle that sounds subpar productionwise to stuff from 2002, that only got popular because of HHz in the artist title.

I've never liked it either. Though the scratches sound good in mashups sometimes (like that DNA one with Advanced).
